6 Things You Can Control That ALWAYS Produce Good Outcomes

May 16, 2024

This weekend I was reflecting on the year 2022 so far

It’s felt like a crazy, out of control period for me as a newly self employed financial advisor

A rapid, out of control bear stock market

The implosion of the cryptocurrency market

The most extreme home prices in history followed by the fastest change in mortgage rates in my lifetime

The word recession at the tip of everyone's tongue…

Despite all this its been a very blessed year for Amanda and I

Our businesses are healthy and well

We are healthy and well

In 6 days I’ll be attempting my first marathon with a goal finishing time of 3 hours and 30 minutes, or 8 minutes per mile

And I am reminded that winners focus on what they can control even when there is a tempest around them

Here are 6 things we can always control that are guaranteed to produce good outcomes no matter the environment around us:

  1. How much $ we spend - spend less than we make and no matter what the stock market is doing you will be able to save money that can later be invested.

  2. What we read - books like total money makeover or the millionaire next door or Extreme Ownership are evergreen reads that can change your life

  3. What we listen to - great podcasts or youtube videos such as Tim Ferris, Wealthion, or Jordan Peterson can be great ways to apply energy and focus when other things in our life are out of control

  4. Our fitness - choosing to exercise 30 minutes 5 times a week will create a strong body, strong mind, and no thing or no person can stop you from doing so except yourself

  5. Our nutrition - the foods we put into our body determine how well we sleep, how well we think, how volatile our emotions are and ultimately how we interpret the world around us.

     6. Our relationships - you don’t need the reminder but relationships are lifes true reward. Investing in our partners, our kids, our parents, our friends, and our community is never a wasted effort
